It can be incredibly tempting to have a last minute snack right before bedtime, however, this is actually bad for you and you should be avoiding food right before bed. Cereal:

While grabbing a late night bowl of cereal is sometimes just the trick, unfortunately, it may be causing more harm than good. The sugar rush from this can make it harder to get comfortable and relax before bed.

Chocolate:

Chocolate is an irresistible treat, and during the day a little snack is fine. However, if you’re getting the midnight munchies, then this is one you want to be avoiding. Not only is this high in fat and sugar, but it also contains caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that can make settling down harder, taking away valuable sleeping time from you.

Pizza:

Everybody loves pizza, but this isn’t something you should be buying and eating before it is time for bed. Not only is it practically a meal, giving you extra calories you don’t need, the tomato sauce can also cause stomach aches during the night.

Coffee:

While this isn’t a food, coffee is a drink you certainly want to stop having before bed. Containing caffeine, this is a drink that will keep you up and alert at night, making it much more difficult to get to sleep. Not to mention, you’ll feel awful and unrested when you wake up in the morning if you go to sleep while there’s still caffeine in your system.
