Bedtime. A time to unwind and relax. Avoiding stress before bed can prove vital as you don’t want it to interfere with your sleeping pattern. Bedtime is the best time to avoid stress, as lack of sleep can then affect your ability to function throughout the daytime.

Hot baths can be very beneficial for those that are looking to de-stress before their bedtime. The hot water from the bath will not only relax your muscles, but it also helps you to reach your core temperature. This acts as an excellent trigger to de-stress and can therefore make it easier to de-stress before bedtime.

Sleep is essential to people’s health. Without it we wouldn’t be able to function normally. Being tired can not only affect our decision making, but also our response time and our ability to work during the day. But if you’re having trouble sleeping, de-stressing can prove essential as it will allow you to drift off to sleep much more easily.

Another useful tip is to plan out when you’re winding down period is going to take place. It’s important during this time to avoid activities such as: computer work, watching TV or doing exercise. The best time to begin de-stressing is around an hour before you plan on going to bed. During this time it is best to avoid eating food and consuming sugary drinks.

Overall, we would heavily advise avoid completing stressful activities before bed or whilst in bed. While this may seem obvious, this includes avoiding paying bills, or doing work in bed. Completing stressful activities while in bed, then it can result in an association between the two. This can then result in sleep being harder, as your mind feels the environment is stressful. Therefore it’s important to create a calm environment in order to de-stress before bedtime.
