For some of us, falling to sleep at night isn’t easy. It seems no matter how hard you try you just cannot fall into the land of nod. On average, it should only take you between 10 and 20 minutes to fall to sleep. If you find that you’re taking a longer time or shorter then this could be a sign of a problem with your sleeping.

If It Takes Time To Drop Off

If you find it takes much longer than the average for you to get to sleep then this may be for a variety of reasons. There’s is a lot which can make sleeping difficult. We’ve investigated into some of these to help best guide you to the perfect night’s sleep.

Wrong Environment

Your bedroom environment plays a lot bigger role in your night’s sleep than you might think. If it’s too hot, you may find sleeping a struggle. Open a window as a gentle breeze can make a big difference and you will find it much easier to relax.

If you have caffeine right before bed then this could be the reason you’re finding it difficult to drift off.  A cup of coffee is great to wake up in the morning too, however, we don’t recommend this in the hours leading up to when you plan to go to bed.

Poor Mattress

Of course, your mattress contributes massively to how good your night’s sleep is. If your mattress is getting old or is the wrong firmness for you, this can make it difficult for you to get to sleep. We have plenty of mattress buying guides on our mattress page which will help you choose the perfect option for you.

You Fall Asleep Straight Away

If you fall asleep the minute your head touches the pillow then you could be getting too little sleep. We suggest trying to make up these hours to help you refresh as eventually this lost time can begin to affect you in a bad way.
