We’re always getting told how important sleep is for us. When you have work the next day, there’s nothing worse than tossing and turning unable to get to sleep. But just how much does this affect us the next day when we’re in our workplace.

When you’re tired, your brain can’t function as well as if you’d had a good night’s sleep. Your response times will be a lot slower as well as your concentration severely lessened. Studies have proven that the quality of work is hugely impacted too, with those who haven’t had their full night’s sleep making a large percentage more mistakes than those who have.
So, with sleep being this important, how can you make sure to get the best nights sleep before work the next day? There are a few simple steps that can be taken. Firstly, it’s important you’re sleeping in the best environment. Noise and light levels within your room can impact your ability to sleep. If you require, buy ear plugs or a white noise machine to help drown away the noise from the street. Your bedroom should also be at a light level where once your eyes have adjusted, you can’t make out objects within your room. It’s also important to keep your room at the right temperature, so open a window to let a gentle breeze in if you feel you’re getting too hot.
